2012: End of the World: What are we doing?

The world is coming to an end in 2012. This has been popular belief and in the eye of the public in the recent past. The strength of this theory lies in the number of indications pointing towards it actually taking place. December 21, 2012 is the end date of the Mayan Long Count Calendar. Other theories state that Earth will collide with another planet (Nibiru). Predictions by Nostradamus, the changing geographic and climatic conditions and speculations of a polar shift are just some of the other possible reasons supporting the 'doomsday theory'.

The word has now spread that this theory is untrue or that the world will not end in 2012. This may seem like a reason to celebrate but what we do not realise is that which part of the theory is untrue. The world indeed may not end in 2012 but the end of the world as we know it is inevitable, and it is just a matter of time. The rising sea levels, climatic changes, increasing frequency of earthquakes and the increasing depletion of fossil fuels are just nudging us towards the end. Many times is actually makes me wonder - What are we doing to save this end from arriving? Or, a thought that worries me more, What are we doing to even attempt to delay this end?
I am sure we all get concerned about the harm we cause to Mother Nature, but there is very little we do about it. I'm not saying that I am doing something myself. In fact, I ask for your support, I need to be pushed myself. Everyone knows what is right and everyone knows what is to be done. It is just the unity that lacks.
The other day I was talking to a friend and he interestingly mentioned that fossil fuels have a very limited life left, about 40 odd years, and still we waste the precious oil without consideration. He mentioned the amount of petroleum used in Motor Sports. They are still promoted even though the cost is more than the entertainment. He also mentioned that SUV vehicles and fuel guzzlers are still produced and sold even though they are discouraged.

The truth is we do nothing and can do nothing alone until everyone realises that it is a common goal. So if you have read this, and actually want to do something, being considerate about the things mentioned is just the start. The greater and more effective thing to do is to spread the word and involve as many people as possible because a stronger voice makes a better difference!!

  1. Nostradamus predicted that the world would end when the world war 3 would strike....his prediction about world war 1 and 2 have been right.so we are bent on believing that the 3rd one might come true...
The question is.. what is better.?.the world ending due to world war 3 or the world ending due the revenge of Mother Nature.....either way...man would be responsible..:)
