Six Degrees of Separation: Human Web Theory

Hey there!! I'm gonna float a crazy idea which I want you to ponder about. Is it possible for you to connect yourself to Goerge Bush, the former President of the United States? Could it be that a friend of your friend's friend might be friends with George Bush (I know...confusing statement)? If you were to form a chain of acquaintances from yourself to George Bush, how long do you think it would be? 50 people? 100 people? Well, how about only SIX? At least that is what the theory of Six Degrees of Separation states. Let me show you a diagram I found while googling..

The theory generates the idea that a person is at most six steps away from any other person in the world. This means that if you are one step away from a person you know and two steps away from any person they know then only six steps seperate you from any person unknown to you.

Mind Candy, a British media and entertainment company, is carrying out an interesting activity to test the accuracy of this theory. Titled as 'Find Satoshi', Mind Candy has distributed a photograph of a Japanese man named Satoshi which I have included below. It would be interesting to know the results of this test.
Many personal experiences have led to me believing in this theory. So let's see if this theory is actually true. If any of you can actually contact George Bush (the only practical way to test this theory..lol..) then I would certainly be interested in knowing how long a chain it took you.

Astral Projection: Soul Travel

OK, this entry of mine is influenced by the thoughts of the soul that have been on my mind lately. My English teacher in class 11 introduced my to the book 'Many Lives, Many Masters' by Dr. Brian Weiss and three and a half years later, I have finally finished reading it. The book itself strengthened my initial belief in the soul and reincarnation, and i started grasping any information I could from anywhere. It was while random surfing on the net that I came across the term 'Soul Travel'.

As fascinating as it sounds, it was something which I wanted to know for sure if it was true or possible. I began snooping around gathering all I could, talking to people about it and I eventually learnt that soul travel is a concept which is part of 'Astral Projection', a form of Out-of-Body-Experience. I also read about a couple of living practitioners, but I haven't got enough information to know if it is actually true.

Soul travel is believed to be the act of a person's soul leaving the body to seek spiritual lessons while the person is asleep.
What I would like to learn more is about the effect it has on the persons mind. Robert Bruce, the author of Astral Dynamics, has developed a Mind Split Effect theory in contrast to the empty body theory. But the theories are too complex for me to understand and all I know right now is that in the Empty Body theory, the soul exits the body leaving it as an empty shell, whereas in the Mind Split Effect, it is believed that the body, mind and spirit generates an exact copy of itself.

What I would like to know is which of these theories actually takes place and whether Soul Travel is actually possible.

2012: End of the World: What are we doing?

The world is coming to an end in 2012. This has been popular belief and in the eye of the public in the recent past. The strength of this theory lies in the number of indications pointing towards it actually taking place. December 21, 2012 is the end date of the Mayan Long Count Calendar. Other theories state that Earth will collide with another planet (Nibiru). Predictions by Nostradamus, the changing geographic and climatic conditions and speculations of a polar shift are just some of the other possible reasons supporting the 'doomsday theory'.

The word has now spread that this theory is untrue or that the world will not end in 2012. This may seem like a reason to celebrate but what we do not realise is that which part of the theory is untrue. The world indeed may not end in 2012 but the end of the world as we know it is inevitable, and it is just a matter of time. The rising sea levels, climatic changes, increasing frequency of earthquakes and the increasing depletion of fossil fuels are just nudging us towards the end. Many times is actually makes me wonder - What are we doing to save this end from arriving? Or, a thought that worries me more, What are we doing to even attempt to delay this end?
I am sure we all get concerned about the harm we cause to Mother Nature, but there is very little we do about it. I'm not saying that I am doing something myself. In fact, I ask for your support, I need to be pushed myself. Everyone knows what is right and everyone knows what is to be done. It is just the unity that lacks.
The other day I was talking to a friend and he interestingly mentioned that fossil fuels have a very limited life left, about 40 odd years, and still we waste the precious oil without consideration. He mentioned the amount of petroleum used in Motor Sports. They are still promoted even though the cost is more than the entertainment. He also mentioned that SUV vehicles and fuel guzzlers are still produced and sold even though they are discouraged.

The truth is we do nothing and can do nothing alone until everyone realises that it is a common goal. So if you have read this, and actually want to do something, being considerate about the things mentioned is just the start. The greater and more effective thing to do is to spread the word and involve as many people as possible because a stronger voice makes a better difference!!
